I made a couple cuts through 14" fir and it pulled through it fine. I had bought a husky 435 last year for this type of work and the 3500 cuts fast. Then keep the 445 as a backup, and the craftsman as a loner.The 5020 overall is a smidge hefty, and a bit bulky, but for the $180 mine cost, it's a real value for lighter felling & bucking, and most limbing. To set the low speed, set the low speed screw at 1 turn. Start the saw and warm it up. Set idle screw so it idles. If it bogs down when you hit the throttle, richen it up (counter clock wise). Let it idle for 20 seconds and tip the saw forward. If it stalls, then lean it out.Consider if you shop locally for chain what is available, if you buy saws without bars which bars will be compatible. Husqvarna prefers a 0.050 or 0.058 gauge while Stihl prefers a 0.050 or 0.063 gauge.
